Oh, yes, I know how it is - that's prolly one reason I don't experiment more; I hate to risk wasting it when we're on a budget too; it probably isn't quite as tight as yours, but all the same, I hate the thought of making something only to have it not turn out right, so I tend to either make old standbys or experiment with recipes to my own satisfaction, such as taking one receipt that called for cherry pie filling cooked with pork chops and using a more standard flavour - apple pie filling. (I buy the No Sugar Added kind to help cut back a little there.)

Awwwwwwwww, thank you so much, sweetie!!!! :D I do try. . . . I think one of the best times we've ever had (correct me if I'm wrong, Cali) was when Ancalime8301 and I tried our hands at making chocolate gravy. Oooooh, that was good! You serve it with biscuits just like you would regular gravy. . .if you ever want a receipt, let me know; it's not terribly pricey to make, certainly cheaper than a lot of these meat and poultry entree items. And I don't know about there, but down here you can get a bag of frozen biscuits cheap enough, and for one person that'll last a good while. Heck, for two of us it lasts a decent while. We're still on our first bag, and we're not shy eaters. So I'll bet you could get some serious mileage outta a bag of those for less than a few dollars, if you like that kind of food as "any time of day" food. Depends whether you do, though. :)
