Hey, gang!

Voting won't open for more than a week yet, but I'm over at

if you'd like to see what fics I've listed for the Finish-A-Thon and start thinking about which you'd like to vote for. You can vote for ONE for me to finish; I chose "all and sundry" so you do NOT have to be a Finish-A-Thon participant to vote for my fic choice. :D

If you want to know where my heart lies, read the comments in the descs of the stories; in short, my heart's really with the Untitled WIP (esophageal stricture) and "Starved"). "Aduial" falls after those. I'd really like to do one of my top two choices if I could, particularly as this time is going to be so stressful for me, but we did have to provide between three and ten choices. I apologize for not including such popular fics as "Water" and "Old Wives' Tales," but I'll be working at my in-laws' much of the time and thus am limited in the nature of notes and drafts and references I can have out without raising some eyebrows.

If you have questions about any of my fics, please feel free to ask them here in the meantime. I have every intention of finishing all WIPs; none of these are going to be abandoned permanently just b/c they aren't selected for the Finish-A-Thon. I promise. It's just that they'll be finished one at a time, as I can. . . .

Hope y'all will come out and vote for my fic when the time comes!

I think I would like Starved to be finished first. That one appealed to me as soon as I started reading the description.

Yay! :D I would love to finish that one first. . .that and the esophageal stricture fic are my faves, and the simplest to finish. . . . To up the odds of "Starved" winning out, please cast a vote for it once voting opens; it'll open between March 21 and 23, to my understanding. I'll try and keep an eye on it and post a reminder. Unfortunately, I may not be able to immediately let everyone know what's won once voting closes, as they're only posting and not notifying individually, and that'll close during my busy post-surg time - but I'll post in my LJ which won just as soon as I myself know! :D And of course I'll be posting the completed winning fic at the end of the Finish-A-Thon (May 27) in a publicly accessible location. :D LJ or ff.net or both. . . .

I agree with Mews. I'd like to see Starved finished first. I can see the other one tied in as they explore why he's having trouble. Just seems like a natural order to do them in.

The two are actually unrelated. . ."Starved" deals with the psychological and emotional consequences of starvation, as that's pretty much what Frodo and Sam got down to at the end (and sooner, by hobbit standards!). There was an eerie experiment done early in the 20th century on starvation using healthy volunteers with incredible results, yielding much of the information you'll see used to develop Frodo in the fic. :D

The esophageal stricture fic, OTOH, grew out of a discussion on why Frodo might only be able to swallow soft foods or liquids, and talk turned to that "horrible burning drink" in Cirith Ungol - it was SurgicalSteel who brought up the possibility of a distal esophageal stricture, which I had to research to learn more about, and that worked perfectly. :D Wax wands came into use as early as the 16th century, so it seems reasonable to me that Elrond could have one to use to stretch the esophagus. ;D So that's what we're gonna do. Nothing graphic to see, particularly as Frodo will be in a healing sleep and not recall it really, but. . .that's the procedure.

But I do think that's a natural order for them, aye. It just "feels" right to me. . .from being able to eat and hungry and kind of food-obsessed to being unable to swallow anything except soft food in small bits, and being reluctant for even that. Works for me! :)

Please, do cast your vote for "Starved" to help it win the poll. . .I'll try and post a reminder come voting time March 21-23 opening season. :) Voting will stay open about a week, so there will be plenty of time to cast your choice! :D
