Summary: At Weathertop, Aragorn attempts to help the wounded Frodo, but cannot save his friend.

"Help him, Strider!"

Sam's cry went not unheeded, but Aragorn realized that there was all too little he could do. Frodo's skin was clammy, his face ashen; his breathing was rapid and shallow.

No, Frodo. No!

He had done all that he could to stem the flow of blood from the knife-wound to the shoulder, and it seemed to be easing, but Frodo had already lost so much blood. Desperately Aragorn searched with his mind, trying his best to call Frodo back, but there was no answer, no response from Frodo's spirit.

The blue eyes fluttered closed.

The labored breathing eased...eased...grew slower...and finally ceased.

Sam burst into tears.
